The Xhosa people are a Bantu ethnic tribe of Southern Africa living in south-east South Africa. The name “Xhosa” comes from that of a legendary leader called uXhosa. There is also a fringe theory that, prior to that, the name Xhosa came from a word meaning “fierce” or “angry” in some San language. The Xhosa Collection was inspired by the strength and determination of our leader Nelson Mandela who fought for freedom for the people of South Africa. The man who made the impossible, possible! So why can’t we all aspire to the same GREATNESS for a better future.
The Ndebele Collection was inspired by the colourful and creative artwork of the Southern Africa Ndebele Tribes houses. Please do yourself a favour and research this topic to see the pictures of these beautiful and artistic creations. This showed me that the importance of art and use of colour has always played a massive role to us as humans from all corners of the earth. Embrace your colour and art because this brings people together and breaks barriers. Hence our slogan ~ BE INSPIRED. BE YOURSELF. BE NAVA. ‘NAVA’ meaning beautiful and there by I believe everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way.
The Khoisan Collection is designed for the free spirited wanderers who chose to live from the land. Those who live in harmony with nature like the Kalahari Bushman. This was the inspiration behind the Khoisan Collection. It’s tribal, it’s wild but yet peaceful and harmonious. Wearing pieces from this collection must be respected as the Khoisan are the original native South African’s who still roam the lands, driven to the deserts by those who think they know better, in search for a place of their own, where they can live in peace and be one with mother earth. I think it’s time we learn from them rather than always trying to change their ways.
