Description

NAVA Apparel’s Men’s Classic Desert Shoes are a modernised version of the original South African ‘veldskoen’ in full pecan brown leather with pecan brown leather trim. The interior of the shoes are fully lined with leather and fitted with Italian Fiberboard insoles, covered in latex foam and then wrapped with leather for extra comfort. Italian Fiberboards are more breathable and durable and can last up to 10 years, which helps to prevent the soles from splitting. Fitted with 100% genuine Eco rubber soles for excellent grip and then hand-stitched through the bottom of the shoes for outstanding quality. All NAVA Apparel shoes are handmade by highly skilled, local South African craftsmen, to whom we pay fair trade wages.

‘Ndebele’ is a Bantu nation and ethnic group in Southern Africa, who share a common Ndebele culture and Ndebele language. The Northern Ndebele were historically referred to as the Matabele which was a European corruption of ‘Ndebele’. Their history began when a Zulu chiefdom split from King Shaka in the early 18th century under the leadership of Mzilikazi, a former chief in his kingdom and ally. Under his command the disgruntled Zulus went on to conquer and rule the chiefdoms of the Southern Ndebele. This was where the name and identity of the eventual kingdom was adopted.
